Talk about falling into the world of Love Ranch circa late 1970s Nevada. A quick Breakdown for you all: Put two of the most legendary + iconic actors, Helen Mirren and Joe Pesci, combine them with a slew of strong-willed women, a crew that soon became a family (dysfunction yes, but nonetheless), colored with such fun aesthetics (talk about killer fashion, make-up and hair) and what you have is a dream experience that will not soon be forgotten. Mirren and her queen-like essence, demure and positive elegance partnered with Pesci and his home-cooked dinners and late-night conversations full of singing, music and life created some of the most inspiring company. Gina Gershon might look like a tough girl but was such a doll and an incredible musician, swapping music + talking lyrics, she definitely served as my musical sister. Not to mention the talented but grueling Mr. Taylor Hakford (director) who i can officially say was a tough cookie and saved me the bite of humiliation, though did not for all of us. the grueling audition process sure did pay off.
The mixture of personalities was taken to the max where art was imitating reality and visa-versa. Our womanhood thrived in that experience and the dynamics of our family translated onto film in the best way. Love Ranch a story of love in all of its variations in this 1970s dream era. This debut has been a long time coming, filmed almost two years ago, and i cannot tell you enough how excited I am for the Premiere this month in Hollywood.
As for Hawaii 5-0, I was privileged enough to view the hush-hush pilot and can promise you it is breathtakingly beautiful. I’ll be on your screens in the second episode so get ready :) Working with the cast, especially Scott Caan and Alex O’Loughlin, was wonderful as they are all brilliant actors. I should be leaving on a jet plane for paradise in the near future and am excited for the times to come.
